Acupuncture Helps Athletes?

Now, Acupuncture is one of the fastest medicine in the United States.  Not only the ordinary people but are top-athletes now interested in and getting more acupuncture treatments.

MBL – Brandon Phillips (Atlanta Braves)

NFL – Chris Ivory (New York Jets), James Harrison (Pittsburg Steelers)

UFC – Joanna Jedrzejczyk (Women’s Strawweight Champion)

On April 26, 2017, Brandon Phillips strained his left groin.  A groin injury is one of the most difficult to treat and get full recovery from it.  In the worst case of scenarios, you could end up your career because of the injury.  However, he tried a new modality to come back on the field: Acupuncture

“I hate needles, I hate giving blood and I hate needles, but I really wanted to try something different, and it helped out a lot.  So, I’m really forward to doing it again.  “

In 2013, former New York Jets running back Chris Ivory was suffering the pain for coming back, he tried acupuncture treatment according to

“It is painful.  I don’t want to say I’m used to the pain, but I am able to deal with the pain better than I was before.” (by Chris Ivory)

Acupuncture treatment is not only for post-injuries but also for the maintenance.  Athletes get treatment from athletic trainers, physical therapists, chiropractors and so forth.  Acupuncture is one of the modalities that they get, like the UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Joanna Jendrzejczyk.

“I try to keep my body healthy after the hard workouts, sparring sessions.  There are always some injuries like bruises etc.  She (her acupuncturist) works for me every day.  That’s perfect.  I like when someone taking care of me.” (by Joanna)

NFL all the legend James Harrison is one of those top-athletes who takes care of his body by Traditional Chinese Medicine.

“My first time ever did (acupuncture treatment) was in 2007 at Baltimore Ravens game.  And, it worked so I’ve been doing ever since.” (by James Harrison)

There are not all of the athletes who get benefits from Traditional Chinese Medicine.  We are looking forward to hearing more stories that help athletes in near future.
